I have a 2003 Mercury ELPTO 60HP, the throttle was stiff for sometime, especially shifting into reverse. Today i can not get reverse at all, but read on to figure out how we got here.
One day, reverse disappeared - what i mean is that when i got to the dock and attempted to shift into reverse...

When you turn the key, the starter turns and flywheel spins. it sounds like it wants to start but will not.
When i push the key to choke, i do not hear the solenoid click... should i hear it?
This motor is new to me and has previously run great for the 3...
The remote power tilt/trim switch in my throttle control has malfunctioned and i need t replace it.

Does this seem like a large difference that would adversely effect my boats performance...

A 1985 Mercury 50 HP 4 cyl is losing power; it starts on first crank, idles fine, and get up to WOT like normal. After a few minutes, it loses power. This starts my "skipping" or have "power surges".
I just rebuilt the carbs and had a couple issues with flooding that i have now fixed as well...
The screw hole that holds screw/bolt for the float bowl on the bottom of one of my Carbs on a 50HP Mercury has been stripped. The screw/bolt is itself is fine but the hole has no threads. What should i do to fix this? Any ideas??
I have a 1985 50 hp Mercury which has no tell-tale when idling but there is a tell-tale if it is in gear.
Any reason whey it would do this?
The lower unit is essentially corroded and frozen on, likely where the splines are connected into the power head. I don't think it is coming off any time...
1985 Mercury 50HP, I am trying to drop the lower unit to get at the impeller. I've removed what all the relevent nuts and bolts. Five total. One at the trim tab, one inside the trip tab cavity, a nut just forward of the tab, and a nut on each side. After some gentle aggression she just barely...
Just want to see an order of things i should look at troubleshooting.
I took off the cowl and unhooked the hose that runs from the top of the engine to the tell-tail and it was not clogged.
Where do i go from here?
