Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
Correct doing exactly that. Last weekend got 14 crabs. Biggest went 2.2kg on the scales. Boating in a pleasant 30 degrees Celsius. Board shorts and singlet weather. Very nice. Tropical Queensland. Where else would you rather be!
Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
My "glue" is simply west system microfiber blend with 20% qcells.
I am using FGI(nuplex composites) r180 epoxy resin.
No quite a gas gas swingarm. But a crf 250r Honda. Good pick up though.
Big progress day today.
Floor perimeter coved and taped.
Rear floors...
Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
So after much thought and deliberation. I glued the floor tonight. Just could not justify the extra bulkheads.
I put a top skin on the floor on the glassing bench. Then tested in the boat with two skins on the floor sheet and I could not get any flex.
So glue...
Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
Major milestone out of the way. All stringers and bulkheads coved and glassed.
It took 8hrs over two nights to get it all down wet on wet.
Day time temps are 34 degree Celsius at the moment. Impossible to get a batch of resin to stay good in the pot.
Floor skin...
Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
Jigngrub the largest area unsupported is 400 x 1150. In the rear section. The front floor will have two seat boxes glassed to the floor.
I might consider a stiffener across the stringers in that area. ??? I'll think about that one.
Not much progress lately. Ran out...
Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
Progress update.
I have roughed in all stringers and bulkheads. Using a hot glue gun to hold in position.
The cap was put back into position and pop rivets placed loose into existing holes along the flange. Worked really well as a temporary method of holding the...

Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
Just an update of the progress.
Transom skin finished and knee braces coved and taped.
Rear bulkhead in position.
Basically the transom is ready for the cap to go back on and get glassed.
I will be transforming the original transom edge from a screwed edge...
Re: Honeycomb tansom core.
I found out how to load photos but not great quality
I found 150kg of wet timber sloshed down the back of the boat when the floor came up.
I spoke with the supplier of my honeycomb. He was happy to recommend using it with my application.
I went with the...
I have a cruise craft rogue 14 that requires a new transom and floor. And because I never want to do it again I would like to use polycore honeycomb throughout the rebuild. The honey comb panel is 80kg/m density with a compression strength of 2.2Mpa.
My layup plan is as follows.
450gsm double...
