    Choking my 9.9 -pic included

    when I pull out the choke, the blue button gets depressed and gas squirts from this hole. Is it supposed to do that or do I need a new diaphram?<br />

    Cavitation plate problem.

    I've just noticed that I'm missing 2/3 of the cavitation plate on the left side. :( <br /><br />My boat is a shallow hull 12 foot aluminum and the motor is a 9.9 HP merc. I've never run the 9.9 on this boat. If this going to cause significant planing problems?

    basic carburetion...I don't get it.

    I've been given a mercury 9.9 (1991 -thanks Laddies)and I can't get it to start. I removed the cover and started it by squirting gas/oil mix directly into the carb. It idles perfectly if I keep squirting it. It'll be hard to fish and squirt at the same time so I need to fix my carb! On to...
