    I have a 1998 40 hp Johnson that is mounted on a 13 boston whaler dauntless. This boat sits low in the rear and on decelleration sometimes the water comes over the transom and I am worried about the rectangular exhaust? hole at the base of the cowling. if the motor is running is it allright...

    I just purchased a 98 40hp johnson outboard on a whaler 13 dauntless. i had it tuned up at the dealer. The first time I put it in the water I noticed that when you advance the throttle to the first detent after neutral the motor has some vibration and chatter. It doesn't sound like gears...
