I won't change it until I go back together with the assembly...
Just because I said it looked pretty good didn't mean I was going to reuse it....give me a little credit here...damn
It's a factory manual.
I've got the lower off and the impeller looks pretty good after all these years. Looks like I could have flushed the bottom end and got the pump working as there was some trash in the plumbing, but no biggie, I'll feel better inspecting and resealing it.
That's interesting...maybe the thermo shown in the manual is for the 9.9.
The manual covers 88-92 for the 9.9 & 15 so the thermo might be used on later 15's? The manual doesn't specify.
Anyway I'll get to work on the impeller today
OK an impeller. Got it.
Now, can someone tell me where the thermostat is - or was.
The parts breakdown shows it bolting to the lower housing but the actual housing is a one piece deal with the exhaust port cover being part of the housing, and cannot be removed.
Dog gone it's been tough trying to find info on this motor!
Anyway this motor has been in the corner of my garage for 12 yrs. Finally determined to get it running come hell or high water.
Enter hell and high water!
Problems were no fire and the carb was roached. I'd cleaned the points really...
I'm going thru this engine and found the pee tube fitting which screws into the block was clogged. That's a pretty small orifice so thought to put a bigger one in (shown in pic). I wonder if this larger orifice might cause a cavitation problem in the water pump? There's nothing like modifying...
Hi All - new to this forum.
I picked up this 9.5 and was told by the owner he'd taken it to a mechanic who said it'd be too costly to fix. Got it for $25 so who could pass it up?
The thing started the first pull and immediately hit high rpm's with throttle at idle, a lot of white smoke..I can't...
