I have a 1872 Landau aluminum Jon boat. Im going to use it for hunting and fishing. Would a 18hp Mercury work? I found a real good deal on one, but wanted so see if anyone else has used this size. The tag say 40hp max on it. Thanks in advance.

Well I decided to take the leap of faith. Im glad I did I got the transom out in one piece. Now I need to do some cleanup and decide what type of plywood Im going to use. I found some sandable oak 3/4" plywood at home depot will that work? It looked nice and solid. Also...

This is the before pictures, I have a 5 inch transom extender on this boat. People have told me to only replace the wood in the top part. The bottom seams to be solid. What do you guys think? I was going to replace the rivets with bolts on the main transom at minimum or...
I have a johnson 35 hp and would like to make it tiller steer. Can anyone help me with a parts list of needed parts. And Im not sure if this matters but this is an electric start motor.
