I did use sealant on gasket from housing to motor and correct I did the cork gasket first then the thermostat then the retaining sleeve. I will say when thermostat is in I couldn’t touch the housing it was so hot but I will try the temp gun to give it a double check.
Engine serial number is unknown the tag is worn out
