    i actually have two manuals for these boats, one for my old 85 HP and one for the 140. i'm convinced the manual is wrong because my engine floods if i follow its cold start procedure, and it doesnt if i just choke with the key. if the other fellow doesnt have a button there, then i can't help...

    just to clarify, i'm going to use a separate push pull On Off (SPST) switch powered by the disabled wiper motor to power the gauge lights. i'll leave the SPDT Nav light switch alone. i'd read that its prolly best to keep separate circuits if possible to simplify troubleshooting, etc.

    mine is a J140TLCI 1981 vintage with the 'push key to choke' mechanism. i learned that the manual is wrong - it says for cold starts to lift the idle lever, turn the key and choke it. i think that is wrong - the engine will flood and you'll have an environmental hazard/disaster to get it...
