I just went through my third rectifier. The stator windings appear ok at 1.2 ohms. I cleaned all the connections from the rectifier to the battery prior to this last failure. The diode that shorts out is between the yellow wire to the tachometer lead and the red wire. Thus the yellow wire...
I have two 6 gallon tanks. Could I make the mixture of seafoam and 3/4 gal gas and 3 oz oil in the empty tank and do the decarb and then dilute the remaining mixture by adding additional oil and gas? There shouldn't be a problem running the diluted mixture at WOT.
I installed a new rectifier on my Johnson this morning and ran it for 20 minutes and the voltage was about 13.6 volts at 5000 rpm. Once I stopped and then restarted the voltage went to a max 12.6 volts. I had this happen on another and thought I had a bad rectifier. I think a diode has gone...
