    1988 125 HP Force Rebuild

I began a rebuild on my 125 HP Force motor back in 2020, had to replace the cylinder block because it overheated real bad resulting in scored cylinder walls. The previous owner had it rebuilt too, which included boring cylinders to max oversize. Many life experiences got in the way after...

Hey JerryJerry, See, I knew I got some great tips from you regarding the rebuild. I was just talking to you last week under the username SandersE. The moderators, especially Fun Times, was able to find my old account and re-activate it. Now, Finally after nearly 6 long years, I can finally get...

    1988 125 hp Force rebuild

The replacement cylinder block did not come with the crank shaft, so I ordered a new one from Boats.net. JeryJerry, I do remember your name as being one of the long time members of this forum who provided me with valuable input for me when I first started this project back in 2019. I would...

Thank you. I will look at that more closely than I have to see what it has and will also look at my complete motor gasket kit.

    1988 125 hp Force rebuild

I do still have the old block, but the seals I had to order are the labrynth seals that are physically on the crank shaft between each of the lobes.

    1988 125 hp Force rebuild

I was with this group back in 2019 shortly after my Force motor overheated and shut down in the middle of Lake Erie. I posted pics of the number 3 cylinder walls being heavily scored and was told I needed to have the cylinders bored out to the next size, etc. After taking it all apart and having...

    1988 125hp Force motor build

After 4 months of learning how to tear down and check every part of this motor to make sure all is good, I am now ready to build it. I've had to replace the cylinder block and find new standard size pistons & rings, took a while to find them. I now have all the gasket surfaces clean and ready...

    Mariner 30hp not pumping water

A friend of mine bought a 16' boat with a Mercury Mariner 30AE, approximately 1980. Second time on the water it overheated, not pumping water. He pulled the lower end unit and installed a new impeller. Still not pumping. Is it possible the thermostat is no good or maybe water jacket plugged up...

    125hp Force cylinder #3 repair

I have a 1988 125hp Force motor that needs repair on the #3 cylinder, looks like fairly bad grooves at the bottom of the cylinder. First a little background so you know how I got to this point. While out on Lake Erie my boat motor overheated while on plain and died, haven't been able to start...

1988 125hp Force lower unit woes

Hello fellow boating enthusiasts! I'm relatively new to the boating world. I bought this 1988 Bayliner Capri from my former boss who told me it's a great running boat. A couple days after I got it home he told me not to mix the Amsoil any leaner than 50-1 because he was mixing 100-1 and burned...

1988 125 HP Force lower unit woes

I am in the process of installing a water pump kit on my force motor and figured I would look into why my reverse gear has a hiccup, as though there is a broken tooth on the reverse gear. Everything I've read about it tells me I should not need to pull the propeller shaft to inspect/replace the...
