    trolling speed

    I am replacing my Merc 40hp 4 stroke carb outboard , weight 204 lbs, 2.00:1 gear ratio with a 12" pitch prop to a new Merc 60 hp 4 stroke EFI outboard, weight 248 lbs, 1.83:1 gear ratio with a 12" prop.<br />I am concerned about slow trolling speeds .Assuming that the idling rpm's are the same...

    Mercury bogging ,is it common?

    I have a Mercury 2001 40hp 4 stroke carb. <br />It boggs regardless of RPM. eg. 750,1000,2000<br />As you know from past postings everything has been replaced.<br />I would appreciate all those Mercury carb owners to reply to their motors performance. Thanks.

    2001 Mercury bogging

    2001 Merc 40 4 stroke,idles and top end good,but<br />boggs on accelleration ,is this normal ? :confused:
