I have a 1989 16 foot searay br. the stringers are soft on both sides in differant places. I am wondering if anyone has used penetrating epoxy(rotdoctor cpes) to restore the stringers. I have been told that the stringers arent that critical in this length of boat and that if you get enough epoxy...
I have a 1989 searay br16 with stringer rot. There is also a soft area in the front bow seat and two small areas in the floor. I have a guy set up to replace everything, but am wondering about the materials he wants to use. White oak for stringers, epoxied to the hull. And good grade exterior...
I have a 1989 Searay 16 BR that has stringer rot and am going to put a fair amount of money into restoring it. Does anyone know of problems with this year 3.0L and what should I look for. Compression(not warmed up) all four cylinders 120psi. Slight smell of gas in oil, but I changed it and...
I bougt a 1989 searay br16 about a month ago. I started reading this forum after I bought the boat. I wish I would have read this valuable information before I wasted $4800 hard saved money. The motor and outdrive are in good shape (3.0L alpha 1) I started pulling carpet back and noticed some...
I bought a 1989 16 ft searay open bow about three weeks ago. The boat looked very clean when I bought it. The engine and outdrive have been cheked out and are in great shape. But after looking closer, I am finding more and more rot. I am concerned about stringers. How can I tell if the stringers...
I am almaost affraid to ask, but can anyone tell me what kind of stinger construction I have in my searay. It is a 1989 Br16 open bow, with a 3.0l. I found two small areas that seem soft. One reply told me to check stringers, so I guess I am concerned. Do these boats have any bad history to them.
I just purchased a 1989 Sea Ray 16 foot bowrider with a 3.0L and alpha 1. I screwed up and didnt spend enough time checking the baot out before buying it. I found a few small areas where the floor is soft. One under the drivers councel next to the infloor ski storage area, and one under the...
I just bought a 1989 searay BBR16 with a 3.0L and a alpha one drive. The boat runs great. I checked compression, all four cylinders were 120psi. I noticed a slight gas smell in the oil, so I changed it and ran the boat. The gas smell is still there. Is this normal, and if not what could cause it.
