We bought a 1980 25 ft Cruiser this past June. When we finally got in the water in September, we had very little steering control in reverse. Forward seem ok, not smooth but like a old car that wander all over the road. We tired different props with the same results. Any thoughts out there.

So we took the boat and had a great time on and in the water. Even through the water was about 80 degrees. I so glad that we have this global warming problem. Middle of October and we still can go boating...:p
I bought a 1980 25' Gran bateau(a great old cabin cruiser), but didn't come with a prop. It has merc260 with hyd trim tabs. I bought a 15 dia x 16 pitch 4 blade alum prop. Could not get it over 3200 rpm and would not plane using the outdrive trim(had to use the hyd ones) and lousy reverse...
I want to replace my throttle controls with a unit that has the trim switch and trailer button on the handle. I been bidding on ebay for some quicksilver ones, but they are usually cracked or broken. Are there any other makes out there? Thanks for the help and I enjoy this site alot.
I was tracing a starter problem per the instructions on this forum. I much have done something wrong now the outdrive will not move. The outdrive was down when I got to the slave solenoid, touch two wires together
( you can disconnect the wires from terminals B and C and hook them together and...
