Does anybody know what wires hook to where on my 1983 150Hp merc. I went out wth a friend this weekend and he thinks my tach is hooked up wrong because he thinks it's reading to high! It reads about 1500 at idel but it doesnt sound like it's running but about 600-700!! Thanks!!
I am not able to trim my motor very much without the handling of the boat getting bad!! I checked it today and as far as I can tell I'm not trimming up but about 3 inches from all the way down !( the gauge doesn't work) Is this right or do I need to change something?? If so what?? Thanks!!

I think I have a problem with the water pump on my Merc 150!! At low rpms a have about 5 psi and it goes up to about 17-18 psi at about 40 to 45 mph or 4000 to 5000 rpms, after that it drops down to around 7 or 8 psi or lower and jumps around a lot!! The tell tale is very warm but not real hot...

My trim tab is damaged and I was about to order a new one when the other day I saw a new model 150 merc and it didn't have one on it! Well, I ask the man who owned the boat why didn't it have a trim tab and he said that they (Mercury) were not putting them on there any more because they didn't...

From what you have posted, You have a simular setup to mine! The ? is ,how high do you have your motor mounted(Which holes)? Mine is in the second one from the top, seems low!!

I tryed the primer bulb with the electric pump and it seemed to work! My 150 cranks right up without sitting ther grinding away like before!! Thought I would let you know!! :D :D :D
