    say for some reason I wanted to run my 1970 4 hp evinrude in salt water, would it be a good idea to attach a piece of zinc to the motor somewhere so that the zinc gets corroded instead of the motor?     8 foot v-hull aluminium boat

    Are these made anymore, or at least were ever made for that matter? I think aluminium would be a great material for a small aluminium dinghy to whip around the lake... with a v-hull as well to cut through the waves, and it would be fairly light too.

    7.5 hp outboard too much power/ weight?

    I have a 2.3 metre (7.5 foot) inflatable boat with a slatted floor, and the hp limit on it is 7 hp. Say I wanted to replace my 4 hp 2 stroke outboard with a larger 2 stroke, is 7.5 hp too much or would the .5 hp difference be fine? any input on this would be helpful.

    I cleaned the carburetor, I re-cleaned the high speed jet, I replaced the spark plugs, I checked the spark (was fine), I replaced the ignition system, I set the spark plug gaps to .030" and the points to .020", and the motor idles amazingly well, but when I ramp up the throttle to full speed...
