There is what looks to be a small port or some sort of vent on the side of my lower unit that leaks a little bit of oil each time I use the boat. My guess is that it vents when the oil heats up but I'm not sure and I knew someone here knows whats up. The oil is good no water in it.
I just bought a used lower unit on Ebay and want to rebuild the water pump while at it. The only problem is I can't find a rebuild kit for it only an impeller.
The service manual says to replace the gaskets, impeller cup, gromnmets, seals. If I can't find the parts would I be better off leaving...
I have a 62 Evinrude 40 Hp. with a split type gearcase. The last time out the motor would go bang and shake the whole boat. This only happened in forward -neutral and reverse no bang. The faster I went intensified the bang, it happened every 15 seconds - cut my trip real short.
