Ive been thinking about getting a drum for flushing out instead of muffs, but im not sure what people prefer that? You still have to leave the hose runhing with the tell tale spitting/draining the water out?
So would sticking my water pressure washer in there be ok? How would it be best to dry the inside out to avoid watter etc?
The lid with the fuel gauge has a long stem which appears to have a filter at the end. looking at the size of the black bits inside they would not go through the mesh...
I think we have Rustolum here. There is one other popular product that is a strong rust converter/deterrent, a primer and gal paint all i one, I forget its name. But individual products may be better for sure.
So what are the tests I should run for the thermostat?

I got my remote steer 40hp started finally. The old fuel was the problem, I even think somebody had made a premix. first day trying to use it at boat ramp it wouldnt start and then had a loud backfire, then lot of oil in the water. Old fuel.
So I ran some of my cars 95octane fuel through it...
Is it possible to just wire brush flakey non structural rust and is there a Galvanise paint I can use to help prevent the rust? also it needs a warrant of fitness, a bit nervous, but havnt used it since last years warrant.

yeh, its all Gal, but not the pinions, they are steel I think. the winch frame has no rust, just the internals. its like it needs a rust conversion lubrication type spray. I could take it apart and put everything rusty in a bucket and bath the parts in anti rust?

The current two speed winch works pretty good, its just unsightly. The pinions are just rusty which has discoloured the dacron cord. Its about 1500lb just estimating, boat is half that. No knicks or abrasion in the dacron cable.

So I changed fuel to some fresh 95 octane.
It blew a bit of smoke still but hard to tell if it was oil...
