Reel suggestions for big inland fish.

Ok guys. This year Im going for the larger inland freshwater fish. Cats, Sturgeon, Trout, Salmon and such. My 9 year old ultra light with generic 6lb test wont do the trick. Can anyone suggest some reel models that cost under $100 but are capable of holding 40+ lb test? Or a website that sells...

    Tool question

Ok guys, Im at the phase of my teardown where the only thing left to do is get rid of the 'edges' the old fiberglass left behind on the hull. Would this be done easiest with a grinder spinning a cutoff wheel?

Thanks once again

    More foam talk

When I pulled up my floor, there was foam at the very front of the boat where it comes to a point.. and around the bilge area. Inbetween that was mostly empty space except for 3 small hunks of styrofoam. Yes thats right STYROFOAM! This was the original floor which means that was how they did it...

    Mercury m800

Ok guys, Not too long ago I posted about frozen steering. My steering is still frozen despite my pumping three pumps worth of the grease gun into her. I went to remove the cable but ended up removing the tube that seems to hold the motor onto the mounting clamps. The cable seems to run inside...

Im not very familiar with boat motors so forgive my 'dumb' questions. :-)These questions are in reference to a 1978 M800 80HP Mercury

There are two cables that run into the engine at the same spot. Im just 'guessing' that they may have something to do with throttle. How do I remove...

    Wood placement for floor

    Here is the picture

Ok guys, I dont know how to repair my floor. The part I dont understand is how 'far' to go with the wood. This floor was replaced by the previous owner, so I have no idea how the factory had it. This guy had the plywood stretching from point 1 to point 1. Im...

    Frozen steering

My boat has been sitting for two years. The motor seems to be 'frozen' in place because it wont turn. Its a late 70's maybe early to mid 80's 80 HP Mercury. Do these have some type of lock that makes it so they wont turn? Or do I just need to lube up the little metal bar that goes into the...

First boat is my first project boat

Hello all, I just got my first boat from my Father. Its a 15 foot Sea Raider with a 80 HP Merc. I have to replace the floor. So far I got almost all of the floor ripped up. I was planning on building a small door in the floor right above the stringer for two reasons. A-To get my oars out of the...
