    9.9 Evinrude wishywashy

    I'm thinking of buying an older 9.9 Evinrude from a "friend",he said that it runs great when he first starts it and uses it but it won't start again for some time after he shuts it off from the first start.Could this be a carb(varnish)problem or something more serious?Thanks for all the help...

    I'm posting this for a friend.He said he went out fishing the other day, did some drifting and when he headed back to the launch he heard the alarm going off,checked the motor and it wasn't pissing.He thinks it's the impeller.Could it be the water pump?     My motor has no spark,what do I do?

    25 hp Evinrude won't start (1985)

    It ran last year after a carb rebuild and sat over winter now it cranks but won't turn over with the ocasional pop.I changed the plugs and gas,still no go.How do I check for spark?<br /> Thanks,<br /> stu g.

    85(i think) 25hp Evinrude

    I hunt well into the upstate New York winters with my outboard.Rebuilt the carb last Dec. and used it till Jan. w/ no trouble.I ran all the fuel out & added stabilizer to the tank after the last use.Tried to start it in May w/ no luck,it cranks w/ the ocasional pop but won't turn over.Changed...
