Was getting ready to put a new head gasket on a chevy 350 OMC circa 1983 and as I was cleaning the block side surface I noticed very minor pitting - not deep - extending about 3/8 of an inch around the two of the three top large water jackets.

Just replaced and fully rebuilt an 800 stringer that sits on a 83 5.7 L V8 because it was running hot. Found a fully destroyed impeller, and kept finding little impeller pieces everywhere in the upper during rebuild.
