    so the fix was new a new distributor cap and rotor. took the cap off to inspect and found corrosion on the contacts. cleaning them up may have been enough but for $50 decided to buy a new cap/rotor kit. Runs A1 now.

    the tank was just about empty and had stabilizer in it. added 60liters of new fuel and a can of seafoam. I think it would be okay but running on portable tank would eliminate it as a possibility. process of elimination...
