Thanks, trying to access transom assembly inside is difficult at best. What is the best clamp for shift bellows. Manual shows metal clamps which might work in fresh water, but here in Florida it would probably rust through in one season. One person suggested nylon ratchet clamps. If you agree...
I suspected that but I wanted another opinion. So, for Bravo 1 (no XR that I can tell) right or left hand shaft rotation is determined by swapping shift cable locations???
Thanks, I suspected that from my memory. I couldn't see any cable bind yesterday, so I guess I will have to check OD fluid and than remove OD to examine. I suspect since cable will move OD to neutral and forward, shift cable end is in claw correctly. Getting old sucks.
More Bravo issues! We disconnected cable going to OD (process of elimination) from shifter complex and notice I could manually force the OD into neutral or forward but we cannot get it to go into reverse. We reinstalled motors about 5 years ago after I rebuilt transom. Unfortunately health...
Thanks, but what could be restricting it??? I pulled the plastic cap off last year and lubricated it all. Then, I noticed that I couldn't depress button. I had health issues for 5 years and am now being able to work on getting boat ready for 2026. Thx
I have duel MC/Bravos that each has a neutral button that when pressed in forces the motor/OD into neutral so that I can advance the throttle w/o being in gear. I cannot press in or move one of the drives' button. The other one works fine. Since we had previously disconnected the OD's shifter...
Pully or crank pump? My boat's closed cooled MC was not run in a couple of years and the crank pump's water in its line evaporated. Hence the impeller was dry. When I did crank it, the dry pump impeller disintegrated. Water could not make it way up into heat exchanger via muffs. I learned to...
Salt water used????? You need to manually raise and lower it by jumping solenoid. I have replaced too many of them. They don't like salt water dripping on them. Rebuild rams with new seals. Easy to do! If that doesn't work, replace fluid and pray trim motor doesn't need replacing.
Make sure you don't have any transom or stringer mount rot. If you have ANY, you should stop and replace rotten wood, re-glass, etc. Trust me!!!!!!
I had problems one time due to not seeing a part of the back motor mounts getting bumped off while trying to lower engine onto mount. I believe it...
