Recently placed carb kits on motor (1988 johnson 88hp). Now it starts fine, runs strong but will race and idle high. Ran a tank full of fuel on Friday fishing. Noticed oily residue on transom. Seemed to use more fuel than usual.

Please help. 1988 Johnson 88hp. Motor would not tilt up. Replaced relays and verified power. Now the pistons are impacted all the way in (stuck). What can i do to have these release ? And where do i start on the repairs..?

Please help !! [/COLOR]I recently placed a carb rebuild kit on both carbs(1988 88 hp). When started it runs smooth, then increases rpm/power @ idle.... I've made sure all of the hoses & vac. lines are connected. Also checked the idle plate & screws.
