Well it's been a while so I thought I'd give an update. I was able to get both cylinders running and got her out fishing. On the way back to the dock something happened and it seemed to slip out of gear at high speeds. I was able to limp her back and got her out of the water.

After being defeated with this fly wheel I said "Fxxx it, I'm taking it out fishing with one cylinder, it will get me around anyways." Well once I got it fired up it suddenly started to run both cylinders and this happened. I'd still like to get the flywheel off and clean up...
Today I tried to pull the flywheel and the nut is on there tight. I can’t seem to get it loose as it just turns the flywheel when I try to loosen it. Any suggestions? Do I need to jam the gear somehow?
Thanks Jimmbo, there is a significant list of things I'll need to check and add this. There is a chance that someone just greased the hell out of everything. also need to look at linkage as well lower seals..

I do have a 55 manual of some sort and it covers the flywheel but I don’t want to mess it up.
Hey thanks for the quick responses. It must be a Magneto as the wires lead up under the flywheel. Is there any instructional guides you could recommend on checking the points and… what am I checking. Pretend like I know nothing about ignition because .. humbly I do not. I can get some more pics...
