Any clue on how to test a coil? How about the ignition system from the switch.
97 Volvo 5.7GL (chevy 350). Looking to test the ignition system, coil and ignition control module. Coil is normal 12V with + and - terminal contacts.

97 Volvo Chevy 350- Was just at lake idling in to dock, motor quit and won't restart. Have fuel, no problem there.
New cap and rotor, plugs and wires during winter, started and confirmed all was good. Just out for first trip- ran all day at lake

Is my tach wrong or properly calibrated???
I thought I was overrevving the engine and needed a different prop. I hooked up an engine tach and noticed that the boat tach is way higher than the analyzer.

Help, What do you use. Volvo make a 75w-90 gear oil at $15 quart. Some shops tell me only to use the Volvo. Has a rating of API-GL5 and is synthetic.
Royal purple is rated for GL-5 as well as other brands. One shop recommended a Sierra brand gear oil, another Johnson/Evinrude and still another...
Does anyone know where I can get the SX outdrive manual or an engine manual in a free pdf file.
1997 5.7 GL with SX outdrive. I have all the specific #'s if needed.
I believe the manual from Volvo is 7797410-parts and 7797360-work manual. not sure of the SX drive manual
