I have a 87 150 Black Max XR2 (1987 BLK MAX OB209646 1170797ELPTO) I'm trying to identify and locate the trigger for the neutral shift bar.
Please see the attached pictures, the handle would not lock onto the neutral position, so I took it apart and the trigger was broken.
Any help would be...
Re: 89 175 STL CEB V6 information
thanks for the reply,
Yes the video is the engine I'm looking at. I doubt the gear oil has been replace in the last few years, and the pisser looks a little weak.
From what I can tell the current owner or previous owner did not maintain the engine or boat...
The boat I'm pondering to buy has a 1989 E175 STL CEB. The engine runs on muffs but not in the water or under load.
The owner claimed the carbs needed to be cleaned or rebuilt, I asked why he though that. He said a engine technician said so and, yadda, yadda yadda..... Quote "The boat idles...

1988 88SPL So I rebuilt the carbs and the fuel pump. It started up right away but the idle was really bad and erratic. While the engine was running I saw gas leaking from the bottom...

I ordered 2 SIERRA carb rebuild kits and looking through my manual it suggests "special" tools for completing the task of rebuilding my carbs:

I have to rebuild the carburetors on my 1988 88SPL. Here on iboats they offer to different brands Sierra and Mallory, does anyone have any preference one over the other, pros and cons? Thanks
Hello All,
So after a great season of having the boat in the water, today it started giving some trouble.
The engine has run great all season, all I do is put gas (2 stroke mix) in her and run it with no worries. Today as I took the family out for one last ride before I put the boat up for...
So we had some of the kids come up to the lake last Saturday. After fishing from the dock and the water edge for hours with no luck, I decided to take our Medalist 1600 out for a evening cruse. :D
It was about 7:30 in the evening when we left the dock and I just wanted to stretch the old girls...
Re: Show Yer Boat II
our 88 Starcraft Medalist 1600, just dropped it in the water yesterday. This is our first boat and have have it 3 years now, we could not ask for a better first boat. The second picture is the before when I replaced the floor early last year.
Hello all!
I was thinking of trying to repair this with some 2 part epoxy putty. Is there a better way to do this? the missing gel coat is about 1 1/2" long and about a 1/4" wide, the black area in front of the crack is missing gel coat too.
Hello fellow iboaters,
A few months ago I was in a thread and I seem to remember that it's not a good idea to leave my boat in the water over a long period of time. I have a 88 Medalist 1600 and replaced the floors and carpet last year (May 2011).
We moved to a lake front house with a...
Re: Under the Christmas Tree....

And the happy face is...
OK, first question. I have a 88SPL that we bought last year. We ran the boat 6-7 times before I hung it up for the 2010 season. I never really checked anything, just threw it in the water and added the gas. This year I replaced the plugs and she fired right up and now I'm wondering is there any...
