Hey guys just getting ready to install a regular marine alternator on my 470 the particular alternator that I have has 2 wires a black a red and one post that says BAT. Can someone tell me how to wire this thing to my 470. Or has a link that shows instructions. Thanks

Well guys looking to install a 470 into my 79' 21ft crusiers inc boat. I know its not the ideal engine but I have it and it runs well. I dont know alot about the particular motor I have however I have had it running on a pallet and sounds very healthy.

Recently got a 470 without power steering I would like to upgrade to a power steering system I have found the pump and cylinder for sale used but was wondering if there is any difference on the bracket on the inside of the transom were the cylider would mount?
I am putting a mercruiser 470 in a 20ft cuddy its a 79 mirro marine boat its similar in style to on of the newer trophy hard top cuddy fishing boats I am unsure of the weight but its not real heavy.
My question is what kind of speed do you think I could expect her to reach.

I am going to do a tune up
upgrade to normal altanator
change oil spark plugs
rebuild carb
upgrade ignition and coil
entire new gasket set
I heard something about the exhaust riser causing some kind of problem is there a upgrade...
