    After changing my powerhead and getting it adjusted, my 1989 evinrude powerhead ran flawless, the next day i started it for a test and it went crazy, it tached at about 5000 rpms and i couldn't shut it down. I removed the key, battery cables and even the spark plug wires and it continued to race...

    shift rod compatibility measurement

    I recently changed my blown 1987 Johnson 50 hp powerhead with a 1989 evinrude 48 hp powerhead I purchased. Is the shift rod measurement the same, they both are short shaft 20". I am having problems getting the transmission shift rod to line up and shift properly.
