What is the metal wires that connect the bell housing the to gimbal ring, and then theres a wire from the gimbal ring to the transom. Is it a ground? if the that wire had been clipped with the boat start if not in the water?

Im installing the oil shaft seals for the out drive, and I was wondering if I could use sockets to install the seals, and if so, what size sockets do I need?

Alright folks, I have a very quirky question for you. When installing the upper drive unit shaft oil seals.... what does it mean when it says lips up? Is that the side with the spring showing or no?
