    starter wont turn

    1975 merc 50 hp i cant get the starter to turn over i hear a click in the starter solinoid only some time and when i turn it over it does nothing can the battery be low it says 12.6 volts when i check it but how can i see if it has enough amps to turn over the starter or can it be somthing elsse

    i have 74 merc 50 hp with no spark i ripped the open the distributer and there was lots of rust on the magnets i cleaned it all up now and it still wont give me spark what else can i look at that can give me this problem the switch box was also tested and it was fine. the boat did sink last...

    boat sank

    Hi any help would be great my boat sank last year and i have not started it since then the motor turns over fine but it just wont start. i opened up the distributer and there was rust build up but its all cleaned up now and im still not getting spark the motor is a mercury 1974 50 h.p
