When I'm looking for anchor shackles, what exactly does "1/4" shackle mean?
Does this refer to the opening at the mouth? The width of the 'link'? Or...?
Thanks in advance!
Hi All,
My windlass calls for G43 chain. Are the link sizes the same for G43 and G40 chain? I've read G40 has smaller link sizes, which suspects me to believe they would not be interchangable.
Thanks in advance
Hi all,
I have a friend from Europe who is interested in coming over to the States to showcase a product he is developing.
What is the biggest/best boat show in America, one preferably with a strong showing by dealers/distributors/etc.? We're thinking IBEX- are we on the right track?
Thanks!
Dave
Hi All,
What's the best bow roller for a bruce anchor in the 30 lbs range? Is this pretty typical for bruce anchors? http://www.go2marine.com/product.do?no=195365F
Could anyone possibly show me a picture of their bruce on a roller??
Thanks!!
Hi All,
I'm selling some my excess rope on eBay and a bidder asked me "Is the braid soft or hard finish".
Anyone have any idea what exactly is meant by this?
Hi All,
This question is purely out of curiosity....

Can someone please explain to me how this ladder works. How are you supposed to mount it...
I was just given a box of marine hardware by a friend. Included in the box are a lot of d-shackles like the ones shown here:http://www.go2marine.com/product.do?no=23012F
I think these shackles are used for anchoring, but how so?
Hi guys,
Whats the rule of thumb for rode? Here's what I've heard:
-You need about 8 feet of rope for every foot of water you'll be anchoring in
-You need a foot of chain for every 6 feet of rope
-You need 1/8" diameter of rope for every 9' of boat.
Does this sound about right?
