Dragged out the 2008 DF6 from the back of the shed for a run. Had to put some new fuel in as it was pretty dry in the tank. Crank, crank, crank ..... crank. Nothing. Changed settings on throttle and choke to all combinations. Still nothing. Spark plug looks good. There is fuel in the bulb that...
My 2001 115 Saltwater dropped to less than 1/2 power on a trip the other day. Local mechanic (a good one) has it in his yard and he tells me the "coil" which controls the amount of charge that gets to the spark plugs is shot - only supplying enough for 2 pots. Over $A1,000 to fix. I may have...
Changed the gear oil on my Suzuki DF6. The manual says to take off both top and bottom lugs to drain then inject new oil into bottom lug until it is visible from top lug hole. This is a very messy way of doing it. And then if it needs more oil top up from top lug.
Why can't I simply inject the...
Doing my first major service on a Suzuki DF6 and the final bit is to change the gear oil .... but I can't unskrew the top or bottom plug. They appear to have some sort of rubber/plastic gasket.
The only tools I have are a long handled phillips head screwdriver and a cordless drill but I can't...
I am not a service technician and am amazed at some of the stuff you guys do with your motors. But ...
I have a Suzie DT6 (2006) which is overdue for a service. If I follow the manual and do an annual maintenance schedule (replace plug, engine and gear oil, lubricate and check fuel line) is...
I've got the Navman 5500 chartplotter and the only way to connect to the PC and manipulate/backup waypoints is via a separate card and USB card reader - an additional cost of several hundred dollars.
As this unit will be upgraded some time soon, is there a chartplotter on the market for under...
2001 Saltwater series 115 2s. The service engineer doing the annual looks at the 19" prop and says "who put that on? - it's too big - you should be using a 17" prop".
This guy seems to have done a really good job on the service and seems to know his stuff. He reckons a 17" will get the motor on...
This motor will be serviced real soon (was supposed to be today but we've had 12" rain overnight and I'm flooded in). I have noticed this "bit" is rusty and cracked. Can anyone offer advice as to what it is and should it be replaced at the service? The blob of grease was not put there by me...
Yammy 2001 2s 115hp going in for its annual service later this week (400 hours). I never tell the service place what to do, I simply assume they know these things. However, last year there was a carby problem which took 3 visits to sort out - they finally cleaned the carbies and problem sorted...
Is there a cheap home device to test whether batteries are nearing the end of their reliable working life?
Also, what are your opinions on changing batteries, ie, do you change based upon a time period of say, 3 years?
Safety is my main issue, but I'd hate to get rid of a perfectly good...
My fabulous little beach launch tinny with the Suzy on the back (picture: http://www.bbbalc.com/Home/files/HomePagePhoto_Large.jpg) let me down yesterday. Over 1km offshore and the motor simply died. Could not restart and couldn't figure any problems as had new fuel and recently serviced. This...
Took the rig (saltwater 2001 carby model) on a run this morning travelling at 4200 rpm but about 3nm from ramp the power dropped to around 1500 rpm - no warning bells, nothing, just no power (deep, unusual sound of motor but not running rough). Turned boat around to limp back to port and after...
The trim gauge only shows a maximum of "5 bars" (about 25% of range) so it doesn't matter how far I trim out, the gauge will still show this. When trimmed in sufficiently, the bars will drop accordingly.

Any suggestions as to the likely cause and fix?
I've been using my DF6 for about 2 months now. Although I can read the manual, if any of you out there have one of these little tyros, do you have any tips on maintenance that don't appear in the user's bible? Does this motor have any weak spots?
