    What is the difference between a Mariner 55 and a Mariner 55 Marathon?

    I recently bought a boat that has a mariner 55 on it with serial # 663L594567. I was told by the vendor that this is a 1989 motor. Is this information correct. Also, it is a manual start, can it be converted to electric? Thanks for whatever information you can give.
