Re: Electric oil change pumps
Well I picked up the above pump locally, used it this afternoon. Ran the engine up to temp, took about 5 min to suck out all the oil. Worked great!
Did a search that returned everything under the sun about oil, pumps, and electrical but not a single thread on what I'm looking for .
That time of year is approaching and looking to do the year end oil change. What have you found is the best way to do it? Looked at the mechanical...
Previous owner either painted or picked up some some off brand oil filter, no markings at all on it.
Looking for what brands and model #'s you guys are running.
I'm running a 21 pitch prop which I was told would be good for pulling tubers and skiers. When I drop the hammer I was running 4800-4900 rpm, speedo said I was about 40 mph. I wasn't pulling anything at the time but did have about 600 lbs worth of passengers aboard. Is that too high, whats...
Installed a 4" heat exchanger. Pretty straight forward install, hope it makes a huge difference in operating temps.
Got a temp gauge mounted and wired up, only had an idiot light before which told me nothing. Fast idle, gauge settled at 180*, I'll get it to the lake this weekend and do some wot...
Fould a 470 mercruiser not too far away. Guy says it cranks but won't fire. Boat is trashed. Motor has an alt. conversion and a 4" heat exchanger, neither of which I have. Asking $400/loaded on my truck. I figure the heat exchanger alone is worth $300-350, alt. (new) runs $300 for the kit...
Boats got no temp gauge so I'm adding one. Teleflex lists several sending units http://www.teleflexsierra.com/Temperature-Senders/dm/*******.973928231--session_id.034277977--store_id.373--view_id.491522 and I'm wondering if anyone knows which thread size I need. Boats not home or I'd pull the...
Guy at work, resident boat genious. He says he tools around an area lake at WOT for an hour or more. I say he's doing long term damage, he says their made for it. Guy kind of gets under my skin anyway so mostly we argue because thats what we do but who's right?
I did a search and the answer was not to do this conversion but they involved a motor that is exposed to salt water (aluminum block). I'm in MN, no salt water to deal with, so why not??
I'll grab a seat.
Thanks in advance for you're thoughts.
'79 Merc 470 with over heating issues. No temp gauge just an idiot light that pretty much is always lit. I want to install a temp gauge and I'm ignorant on what I need.
Mechanical or electric gauge?
Sending unit?
Location of install for said sending unit?
I'm no electrical genious but my BIL...
