Recently bought 1989 Alumacraft Phantom V170, got it as a project boat and almost everything is going smoothly, besides one of the past owners had done wiring in the motor and in my opinion very much botched it massively, Trim and Tilt doesn't work besides bypassed wiring and motor works. Motor has good compression but knew the ignition coils were bad from just looking at them, dried up and spotty everywhere, I replaced all four Sparkplugs, Ignition Coils and Sparkplug Wires. Now i am getting Spark in 3 out of 4, If standing next to propeller and looking at motor the top left does not have spart unless take the terminal wire from the bottom left cylinder, thinking might be wiring issue or bad powerpack on that side? What do you think would be the next steps to take? Am open to having conversations and providing more information.

Do you have a manual with a wiring diagram? Worth its weight in gold. If the coils got switched, top for bottom or vice versa, no fire. Your PO made a mess of other things, it's a possibility. The diagram shows which wire from the CDI two pin connector goes to which coil. My #2 and #4 coils got replaced by a PO at some point. Both wires on these replacements are orange, no white trace. I had to back up to the 2 pin coming from the CDI and work those colors back to the A and B side of the coil 2 pin. A good manual is your friend.
