I replaced my water impeller bus still won't pee. I unhooked the hose coming from the impeller but still don't get circulation. Could it be my thermostadts?

I had a 1978 Merc 150, replaced the water impeller, etc.- no joy. The fix was to take weedwhacker line and run it backwards thru the pee hole to clear an obstruction. Of course mine was 20 years older than yours, so not sure the fix applies (don't recall having a thermostat). Good luck!

Zoomie: A 1978 Merc 150HP engine would be the one of the early V6 models. Those have two thermostats each. The last 150HP inline 6 was 1977. These did not have thermostats.

JRB: The water outlet of the impeller should go into a copper water tube. When you install a new impeller, you use the plastic water pump outlet extension, and make sure that fits over the copper water tube.

A lot of those Merc V6 motors will not have a telltale until the thermostats open. I would recommend you remove at least one thermostat and start the engine on a flusher and watch for water. Water should emerge within 20 sec.

BTW: thermostats do not last forever. You might inspect them and replace if necessary. Ditto on the poppit valve.
