People get funny selling items on-line.
Could be he doesn't want you to know his real location.
Had a guy who wanted to met curb outside at his home.
Thought is strange, but OK
Dummy didn't think about his real address being on the title. The guy actually lived 2 blocks down the street.
So I am on Craigs list and a guy has some old bags old blacktop for sale cheap.I figured I would buy 4-6 bags from him. So he wants to put the bags in his truck and do a meetup approx 15 -20 mins away from where he is.I asked him what his location was and it turns out that he is less than 10 mins from my house.I told him instead of meeting up 15 -20 mins away that he could just drive to my house less than 10 mins away and leave the bags at the curb.Better for both of us?? Right??? The dude gets irate and states that he's not gonna deliver the bags for the same price. He sounded so stupid that I thought he was kidding ,so I said instead of driving 15 mins for a meetup, that we should do a meetup only 10 mins away at my address. This moron couldn't get it through his head that this was better for us both and that I was asking him to deliver......I was without words at that point..Could this dude really be THAT dumb????
I had a guy with a chainsaw ad on CL, he said he had just bought it but the wife went ballistic so she's making him sell it.
I emailed him a phone number, he called me right away. It turns out he's 20 miles north of me. I ask for his address and he says he doesn't give out his address. Then suggests we meet half way. I give him my work address, about 20 minutes south of here. He then asks me if I know of a place we can meet half way. I said sure, I give him the address and name of deli down on the corner, about a 1/4 mile down the road from my house. I told him I'd meet him there in an hour.
I waited an hour and walked down to the corner and handed him the cash for the chainsaw. He asked where I parked and told him I took a cab. He left and I walked home with my brand new chainsaw for 1/3rd of what it would have cost me in the store. It came with a case, all the paperwork, and the original receipt from where he bought it. He lost big on it. I have no idea why he didn't simply return it, it obviously had never been used or even had fuel in it yet.
I was perfectly fine with driving to his place to buy the thing, but since he wanted to play games, I played along.
I use a gmail email address and never told him my name, and I use a google voice number so he never even knew who I was. He had no way to check to see where I lived or was calling from.
I had another guy who answered an add for an 8ft snow plow off my old truck. He was 8 hour away.
He asked me if I could mail it to him if he sent me cash.
I told him no problem if he brought me a box big enough to put it in.
He came and got it two days later, showed up at 1am after supposedly getting lost after driving 3 hours in the wrong direction on the wrong road going west instead of south.
