I recently purchased a building site, of which the previous owners left a Forester boat in one of the sheds. I'm not familiar with older boats, but based on the serial number I presume it is a 1978 model?

I have no need for the boat and likely plan on selling, but trying to understand what is the market for this age and condition of a Forester and/or Johnson outboard? Am I sitting on scrap value or gold? ;)

you are sitting on a project that will cost you to dispose of, or you can dump a lot of money into restoring it. (all fiberglass boats older than 15 years should be considered a project until proven otherwise)

someone may want it. however you may not be able to sell it without a title (local dependent)

I would check with your local LEO's and list accordingly on craigslist/marketplace/ebay and not touch it, much less spend beer money on it. offer it for $200 and someone will buy it. however be honest with the listings that its a barn find and you have no knowledge of its seaworthyness.

That's a model 1600 I believe. A 1975 was my first boat. Agree, that boat is most likely beyond repair without significant expense.

Cool looking boat, but in all honesty, just another rotted fiberglass boat that belongs in the dump, way to costly to even think about repairing. Thanks for the pics, brings back memories of my youth....

If it's a barn find, covered, might be serviceable. Any soft spots on the floor and if you stand on the motor when tilted up and flex in the transom?
