Hi, I'm in central Az. and am being offered this old boat. It's got an early Volvo I/O so the early 60's seems likely. I wonder if someone can recognize the maker? It's 18' long and 80" max beam way forward The stern is only 60 wide so it's got some nice taper. 34" of freeboard forward and a deep V entry. Seems like an ocean boat. There are no numbers or names anywhere. I think these are some good old bones that deserve a restoration. Any idea who made it? Thanks! P1060215.JPGP1060223.JPGP1060224.JPG

youre looking at least at $5,000 to restore that and 2 years of weekends and week days, however I bet the final total is closer to $10k

not enough left to identify, and by the condition, my guess is the motor and drive need full restoration.

You got the retired and bored part right! I'm 76 and want a project besides the garden. Skills? Here's a camper I built in 1981 on a 2 ton truck frame, still going and getting 15 mpg.P1050385.JPG

Well hell have at then!!! At the end however, you must post a pic of this towing whatever becomes of the boat type structure.

I used to camp on Lake Powell in a Drascombe Lugger but it was so slow. This will be an aquatic camper with a flat raised desk to tent on when it's hot and a cabin to retire to when it's not. Small ports all around for light and vision out. Here's my first sketch. I could get to the Bahamas in this in settled weather with a spare kicker. I miss the National Regatta in Georgetown bad!P1060230.JPG

The rubrail in the 1968 photo makes it look like a fiberglass upper on an aluminum hull. Esp at the aft end of the rubrail.....

I'd wager a guess it's a Lone Star, esp if you're in the US and the boat was bought in the US.

The spray rail has a full length gas weld of 2 plates hidden just beneath it. They look both flanged outward and it would be an easy weld to do.
The dashboard has an oil pressure gauge. The engine does not have the spin on oil filter I see on the 1966 models. The starboard side of the engine has what looks to be an oil cooler and no filter. Is there a filter inside the cooler? I imagine the engine is earlier than the 1966 since a spin on filter would be an upgrade? Here is the hose fed oil cooler. Lots of hoses on this engine. Does anyone know the model # or year of this rig? Thanks! P1060237.JPG

My guess would be Lone Star as well....but just a guess as they were noted for short front decks.
Thanks for the idea! They do have the same deep freeboard look. And also the same slightly drooping sheer. The Fiberglassic library is so helpful for seeing old boats.
