My 1990 commander classic panel mount remote (shifter) has a jammed up throttle only button 😢 not sure I can fix it? Having trouble finding a replacement that I can just hook up with the existing cables šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Does the throttle still work if you put in gear and throttle up ? If so the fault is in the control lever box. The throttle only will have a lock out to prevent you using throttle only when in gear , in all probability that lock out is your problem .šŸ™‚

If you're talking about the button to push when you want to throttle up to start, my 82 mercury is mechanical i believe other than the neutral safety switch. I took mine out during my rehab and while I didn't look specifically seemed like all the guts were levers, pins and such. Could you remove and peek under the hood to see what the cause is?

Ayuh,....... Welcome Aboard,..... What's it doing, or not doing,..??
Did you try hitting it with a spray lube,..??

I have it apart and sitting on the seat. Problem with the ā€œthrottle only ball bearingā€ / spring. Trying to get a ā€œplug & playā€ replacement isn’t going so well šŸ˜ž

If this boat is kept outside, most likely the button is simply stuck. It happens and is a common issue on boats kept at lake houses, etc

I use the handle of a screwdriver and tap the base of the handle while wiggling the controls to get the button to pop out. Then lubricate as needed.

Sometimes you have to pull the control apart to lube the bits

It's a 3 beer job to pull the controls, take apart and put back together. Take pictures along the way. The factory service manual for the controls helps

Note: sometimes there are detent pins and springs that go "sproing". Sometimes the button breaks and needs replacement

Button wouldn’t push in. Opened her up and spring / ball bearing fell out. Haven’t tried to reassemble yet 🄺

Wish I could get a new after market remote that would work with my ā€œgeneration oneā€ cablesā€¦ā€¦ā€¦šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Yes, did that Uflex b183 work good for you?
Easy install & adjustment?
It was a piece of cake. You may see a reference to some extensions needed, but I did not need them. The cables just drop into position and are good to go. I did have to change the orientation of the front to the back, but that was very easy.
