With the 4th Of July this week it is necessary for a safety briefing.

PLEASE Do you absolute best to come out of this Holiday weekend with the same amount of fingers that you started with on the 3rd of July Through the 6Th of July. YES, everyone is tasked to stay safe!

ENJOY the weekend!

I hate fire/rescue calls around this time ... either we have brush fires or nasty burns/loss of digits or hands. Please make sure you local fire and EMS departments are bored this weekend!

We can watch the fireworks from our back porch, from the neighboring towns and can even see the ones from Connecticut across Long Island Sound.....

Ever since I had to make the fireworks that mean business, I sincerely dislike the toy version.

When I was in, our port and weekend safety briefings usually consisted of:
"Don't add to or subtract from the local population and if you end up in jail, establish dominance early"

No Fireworks related calls over the 4th, but it was a tough weekend ... Mountain Bicyclist (and close friend) bit it on the local trail ... ended up with a trip to the closest trauma center ... his helmet saved his life (helmet severely damaged).

Motorcyclist with no helmet lost his life in an accident.

A student (would have been a HS senior this coming school year) decided to ride his scooter (foot powered) into the path of an oncoming vehicle. He did not make it. His grandparents are part of the fire department and one of his good friends was on the ambulance crew and administered first aid.

Please be careful and wear a helmet!
