I've got a new to me 1993 75 hp merc that came with some controls mounted on a center console whaler. The old shift/throttle cables were cut when removed from the whaler to avoid ripping up the floor lol. I have read through the manual and see that Mercury listed the Quicksilver Commander 2000 controls for the motor.

Just wondering if i can get a different control setup other than the Quicksilver ones to be mounted on the side of my gunnel, i see lots of controls out there but am unfamiliar with what is compatible and what is not.

TIA

Not the expert so take my thought for exactly what you paid for them but any quicksilver should work. Iirc the main issue is the connection at the control unit but why would you have to rip up the floor? A basic fish tape should find it's way?

It unfortunately wasn't my idea, PO did it to get the controls split and disconnected. I didn't know if any 8 pin harness remote controls would work as long as the harness was compatible and the cable movement directions were correct.

Mercury motors used the same mechanical controls for many years. i.e., I used my '76 MerControl on my '93 Merc V6. I needed to graft the wiring however.

So any Mercury-compatible control you find, should work with your motor mechanically. You will obviously want one that works electrically as well. Your '93 Merc has the round plug and two pigtails for PTT, right? Those should be avail pretty widely, and for all prices, both from Quicksilver and other control manufacturers. A lot of controls are universal for several brands of motors. They will have configurations for each motor type.

They have side mount controls, concealed side mount controls, top mount controls and other styles.
