No clue but odds are not. Head is more round than triangle.
Had not thought of that...That shallow river looks like prime Smallmouth territory.![]()
That pot of gold is within walking distance.View attachment 411186
Out my lounge window when we lived in Wakefield ,top of the South Island
Ha , Im trying to think of a bird we would both be familiar with ...... got nothing . If you got it to cooperate and laid it out Id say from tail tip to beak tip would be about 8 inches . This one was sitting on overhead wires above a bit of swamp and was dropping down and picking off tadpoles. Our north american kingfishers look a bit different, mostly in colour. How big is that?
Looks like your trolling for muskies....View attachment 411187
Just heading out of Riverton , bottom of the South Island ..... where we live now
Now thats interesting ,I hadnt noticed the rod tips bent down but I cant think why Id be trolling there as I have the bar about 100m ahead and its low tide . There is only about a foot and a wee bit of water over the bar , me and Di both get on same side of the boat to tip it so one side of the V on the hull is flat to the bottom , only have to go 1 boat length .Looks like your trolling for muskies....![]()
Sadly I dont see many at all . Usually I see them either diving of flying back up , but as you allude to , as soon as you pay them attention they move off. I dont recall ever seeing two together . We had one that hung around long enough to empty the goldfish pond , they can scoff a 4 inch goldfishWe have a couple diff kinds and they are a b...ch to get on film. That size sounds about right.
