Are you using fuel with a high enough octane rating ? Is it fresh ? , was the new head gasket the same thickness as the old one ?

Regular fuel. Nothing has changed. 'm just going to check the timing proactively.

Question is, is 1 btdc or 2 ATDC?

I know this is an old thread. Let me know if a new one is required.

Revisiting the timing topic (I'm going to make sure it's all good after 3 years), I wonder if I misread the manual.

If I strictly follow the serial break of manual 26 page 222, my engine should be 2 degrees ATDC (note #4), not 1 BTDC.

Is that right?

Yes, that's correct.
