Ok so long timer learning first time post. My 1996 Nitro with a Force 120 finally had a breakdown. I lost reverse on the lake. First thing I did was replace the original throttle and gear cables. I got reverse on Muffs but would not go into gear in water. All adjustments have been do according the manual and the 50 plus YouTube videos. So i dropped the unit and decided to tear it apart. Retired Master Mercedes tech so not to hard. First off the pin that holds the Dog clutch is bent. The Clutch it self has just the tiniest rounding on two corners. But the pins that are spring loaded have look ok put with no picture to go by I don't know. At this point I am figuring it is going to be better to just replace the parts i need to and put in new seals verses buying a used lower unit. Also the lever peace the gear shift rod goes through looks worn out.
Well after cleaning the clutch more I can see a crack in it so it gets replaced. Also one more question. The Follower cam kit shows ball bearings. I did not pull any out when I took it apart. It this part. https://www.boats.net/product/mercury/12239A1?
