I found this old thread,
.
But I'd like to see more pictures of ones on the bow of a StarCraft.
.
Also, what size thrust with size boat do you have, and how's it been working for you?
.
Oh, and what length shaft do you have?
Thanks.

On my 18 mariner, using a transom mounted motor on the bow had to go with a 60" and i think it was a 45 lb which is plenty for me. You have io and a diff interior from my center console so maybe a 60.

Imo, on that boat, the railing is just for looks as is mine. What do you actually use it for?

Super fisherman with a 60” shaft. 45lb.
I took it off because it was broken and it is really hard to see over the bow.
The high bow boats aren’t very good for bow mounts. Hard to see over and the high hull catches a lot of wind.
I tried a 30 lb thrust on the stern and that wouldn’t push the boat.
So I bought a 5hp kicker. I’m running it without a bow mount for now.

18' V5 SS with Minn Kota Terrova 60" 80lb 24v. Plenty of power and no blow out in rough water.

I know I should know, but I'm going to take my boat out today just to put it in the water to take a measurement to the water line at the bow.
I may be surprised, but I'm thinking for semi rough water, I'm going to need 60 inches to keep the lower unit submerged.
I'll post back.

I took my boat to the river.
It's 35 inches from the top of the bow surface to the water.
