Re: Looking for other Glassmaster boat owners..

Hi!

I just spent (1) Year resorting my 1988 16' Glassmaster S -179. Why? I got it free and I love the lines! Anyway, I tried to post a photo thread of my restore, but every time I wanted to post a picture it told me the photo was too large :-(
I want to find other Glassmaster Owners as well! I would be willing to make a website devoted to these niche boats.

Re: Looking for other Glassmaster boat owners..

I have a 1989 S187 Glassmaster cuddy
Looked everywhere on the web and cannot find much for info such as model name other than S187
I am going to be doing some work to it and that will wind up in the restoration section but the extent is such work
is yet to be determined.

Seems to be kind of rare as there are not many pictures on the web for at 18 ft and powered by a 3l merc it moves not to bad as well
however as I get into it and read here I have a feeling that I will have more than I thought I may have to do.

The fishing / radar arch has been just added and supported from inside hulls cap section along with a meranti plate on top of the gunwales and extruded aluminum track on top of that for mounting fishing gear etc.

The second photo is not my boat but a photo of another boat exactly like it in europe. I have not found many pictures actually of this particular model.

I would love to be able to find out more about this boat, construction techniques used, specs etc.

Hello there! It's been a while since anyone has posted to this thread, but my husband and I brought one home today. Trying to find more info on it...It was given to us by a friend. His father passed away last spring, and it has sat since '09, as far as we can tell. Waiting on title, but serial number is 68100XESD. It is an 18' 165HP Mercruiser IO. Hoping to get her on the water soon!

1973 Glassmaster Tarpon inboard/outboard. Been in the family since purchased. Some things are finally starting to give way after 47 years of use. Anyone else have an inboard/outboard? I'm having some steering cable changeout issues!

Thanks.

Re: Looking for other Glassmaster boat owners..

Here are some pictures of mine. I bought it in 1996 with a mercury motor that didn't work, and trailer, for $600. I don't know the exact year, mid sixties is my guess as I saw a io model that looked similar on the web. It came with a wrap around plexiglass windscreen which I took off and replaced with one that I constructed. It was originally painted blue and white. I repainted it white, and changed the top from blue to green. I added a board with storage and fishing pole holders across the motor well. The motor I replaced with a new 1996 Yamaha 50 horse four stroke. It is about 17 ft overall.

My family ran Glassmaster for years. My dad was V.P. and General Manager of the marine division, my uncle was President, and my other uncle was Chairman of the Board of Directors. Those boats were built by hand in Lexington, South Carolina. Very well made boats!

Hello, a while back I picked up what appears to be an all original 1977 glassmaster tri hull 600XSD model. It obviously has been in a shelter most of its life. Yes it obviously has its dings and some wear and tear. It's an old boat. The floor feels solid as well as the transom. Nothing obvious. This 48-49 year old boat looks to have the original green upholstery which is in phenomenally great shape with no tears, rot, degradation or anything. It has the original green astro turf carpeting with a couple of slight stains of some sort but I plan on trying to scrub them out when the weather warms up. The boat has the original 70 hp Johnson on it. I haven't cranked it up or run a compression test yet. I have been busy tinkering with other things on the boat . It has the original snap on cruising top on it and the vinyl is in super shape as well as the zip up sleeve to store the top in when it is folded down. It also has the small snap on apron that closes off the walk thru portion below the walk thru windshield opening. It appears to have hardly ever been used. I actually found it stuffed in one of the little bow compartments. I recently completed a restoration of the trailer. New paint and primer, all new lights and wiring, new bunks, new winch strap, fresh bearing repack job, new bushings for the leaf springs while it was all dismantled. I had removed the boat from the trailer by carefully jacking it up with a hoist and a strap and strategically placing padded cribbing throughout the hull then rolled the trailer out from under it. The trailer now looks very nice. I am losing steam on this restoration project due to health issues. Maybe in the near future I can get back into it and continue this project.

Hello, I know exactly where that manufacturer was located. It is about an hour from me. We used to pass by it going into Columbia. I always wanted to stop in there and tour the place but never got an opportunity. I have read up on these boats over the years and have been fascinated with them every since. But I never owned one till recently when I found a gem in really good condition for the age. Doesn't need a whole lot other than a good cleaning. But I like to tinker with it. I have posted a long story about it on here. Hope to chat soon.
