Hello,
My motor's serial number is: A708047 (0A708047)

I have found two manuals that are close, but not quite right.
https://dl.repairhub.club/product/0d900242138489/?page=1 (a bit too old)
and
https://www.scribd.com/doc/208066898/Outboard-Manual-70-75-80-90-100-115 (a bit too new)

The thing I can't seem to make sense of, is that neither of these manuals properly describe my lower. They all include an extra bearing between the reverse gear and the bearing carrier. I found this exploded parts diagram on Crowly marine when searching by serial number, but I can't find any service manual that has this lower layout. Is there a name for this lower layout? I believe that it is neither EZ-Shift nor Cam Shift (Type1 or Type2).

Does anyone know the correct Mercury PN for the service manual I am looking for? Or where I could buy it?

A serious bearing behind the reverse gear usually depicts a counter rotating gearcase. Non counter rotating gearcases have a simple washer with some small roller bearings embedded, behind the reverse gear.

Also, I doubt your motor's gearcase is a different design from year older and newer. Merc changed the pinon bearing from downward to upward during the 80's, but the rest remained the same.

With a serial number lookup, the crowley marine parts list should be correct.

Is there any chance the gearcase could have been swapped out?

Hey Chris, thanks for the fast reply!

Yeah the part list seems fine, but what i'm trying to figure out is specific tools required for the rebuild, they differ from model to model. Also I was hoping to find the tightening torque required for drive shaft pinion nut. My drive shaft is an 8 spline (course spline?).
Also I haven't had much luck finding the tool for tightening the bearing carrier nut. I found one one amazon but I think It might be the wrong size.

Might have to make one out of a pipe with an angle grinder., then weld on a socket so I could torque it down to correct spec (which is???).

I am hoping to replace the clutch, forward gear and reverse gear as they're all rounded over. According to the manual you can't re-use the tapered bearing, so I got a new one to put onto the forward gear. And apparently that means you must replace the tapered bearing race. Right now that race (and whatever shims exist behind it) are still in my lower housing, I don't have that special tool for pulling it out. I was tempted to try to make something, open to suggestions.
