1987 Mariner 150 ELPTO. Oil system deleted. I just got this so bear with me. Runs out great but have noticed a "slick" in the water and finally found out where it was coming from... The PORT SIDE bleed line I've highlighted in yellow going to the airbox just "pulse-spits" fuel to the tune of about a drop per second. Something wrong or can I plug it?

I think you have a bad check valve ?----Supposed to remove spilled fuel from airbox.----A " safety " concern.

Gee, isn't it a concern that so much fuel is in the bleed system? I would think that would point to a carb issue, no?

beg ta differ.. it is part of tha bleed system.. not all mercs have that bleed line on 'em.. its like said, removes fuel puddled in tha carb.. that one is supposed ta exit in tha air box then get sucked back inta tha motor.. like said some models don't have that one peticulat bleed line.. why, i have never been able ta get a good answer from anyone, including merc!.. they all use tha "engineer splainin'......" thats way over this old man's head.

if it was me i'd jus plug "both ends an call it a day........... one thing that will help a little is when ya doin' a lotta idlin' around keep tha motor trimed at lest level, a touch positive don't hurt at all though....
