I grew up in Minnesota only kids that played soccer were the 10 ply soft boys that couldn't make the football team. My grandfather fought in WW2 to insure I wouldn't have to use the metric system or watch soccer on my TV.
Heh, I'm not into watching sports, never watch it on TV or go to games. Did used to enjoy playing a few sports such as soccer and rugby (the game American football originated from), not so much rounders (the girls game baseball originated from), not so much cricket (boring).
At highschool we had an American exchange teacher come over for a few months teaching us American football, a lot like rugby except in rugby nobody wears helmets or pads and the play goes on longer betwen pauses. Most lads refused to wear helmets or pads to play American football and we were allowed not to wear them to play it.. and why not when we already played rugby without them? A lot of people over here like soccer and rugby but baseball is too much like rounders (something you play at school until you're around 11 years old if you're male, maybe a bit older if you're a girl), have to laugh at the padding American football players use, looks like a game for a soft lad with all that padding, maybe you'd persuade some girls to play American football with the pads at my old school.
Still judge distance in miles, still buy beer in pints.
